HDMI to AV (RCA analogue) converter

I given up on repairing my CD changer,so decided to connect smartphone and tablet to cars dvd RCA component inputs.
Mine being a 2003 ,I also have stereo Aux input to connect to from behind the nav monitor.Only need now is to get a good HDMI converter box from HDMI (tablet ) to AV RCA component.
What are your thoughts and ideas on this?I know theres a HDMI to AV (analogue) cables but these obviously dont work as it doesnt convert the signal.
Has any one done this? Thanks in advance for the thoughts
Cheers

You'd need to find a way to power it, but... http://www.hdgenius.com

Sorry, can't help. I have that aux cable sitting on the bench along with a bunch of other items to install, but I can't do it until my broken wing heals up and I have two to work with again.

It's not uncommon, however. Is the audio level on your mp3 player turned up all the way?
