Super common for the module to go, I believe the E46/E39/E53 share the same flaw in these units. Just put another rebuilt module in my E39 for under $100 and resolved the trifecta of lights. Video for the story:

I have had the TRIFECTA problem intermittently for about 3 years. I finally replaced the brake light switch and the problem went away. It has been 2 plus years now and no more lights.

I just recently got the tri too.

Did not notice if this was on at the same time, but my HDC (granted it's part of the ABS) - the HDC is faintly lit at the same time. Same common theme when the trifecta is lit ?
