Sorry to hear, unfortunately this is all too common. So hard to find a good body shop. It's the reason the wife and I never keep a car after a hard shunt. We just take our diminished value check and sell the car to buy a replacement. It's sad, but a vehicle is almost never the same.

I hope State Farm (my carrier coincidentally) makes it right for you.

Agree. I will be writing a review soon. I guess I was persuaded by the positive reviews to take her there but not everyone going to get the same treatment. I truly think he didn't take my X seriously and thought I wouldn't care about this 10+ year old truck. That is my only guess.

Looking closely I can see overspray on the bottom bumper where they didn't tape it off correctly. What a waste of time. Well I just got off the phone with State Farm and I have to wait to take it to a new body shop until I get a call from an "estimator'' to meet him there.

I'm lucky I noticed the muffler problem or I probably wouldn't of noticed the other things.

If you need a muffler shop to have them fix the exhaust system the right way I would suggest Iggy Muffler in Norridge. Had a custom exhaust install by them back in my Mopar Days.

I suggest taking your vehicle to a body shop that specializes in BMW, Porsche or mercs and get an independent quote as to what they would do and associated cost to correct the issues you have.

In one of my lives I worked in a body shop. Generally the body shop is paid based on completed work. There is temptation to rush work based on if they can keep it from rolling over into the next pay cycle. Same goes for the body man. In addition, they are paid only the allotted book hours for that job. That means the body man is looking for ways to do the job in less hours. I would assume the temptation to cut corners would be greater in the holiday season.

I don't know what they were thinking. How could they think I wouldn't notice? When I got her back from the shop it was raining so I just took a quick look at her and snapped a picture with my phone. Looked good to me.

She sat in my garage for a few days until this past Saturday. I started her up and noticed the exhaust sounded funny. It sounded like the exhaust had a hole. I kneeled down and looked at where the sound was coming from and sure enough I seen that grey stuff on the pipes. I quickly took her out the garage and gave her a thorough inspection and that's when I noticed the mistakes. They left the interior dusty as heck and left a red rag in the back. I'm still waiting for State Farm to call me back.

Tail gate also looks like it not flush like it was before along with the drivers side tail light. Can anyone take some real close pictures of their tail gate with different angles so I can compare please.

Because to 99% of the population a car is equal to a refrigerator. It's an appliance. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'd be firm with State Farm stating you are unhappy. If they fuss, then a call/email to the state insurance commissioner should get things moving.

Good idea. I will call them as my last resort. I called State Farm this morning and told them I was waiting for the estimator to call me, they transferred me to someone else who was an asshole. I told him I was going to take it to another shop like I had told the other representative. He told me no you have to take it back to the shop that did the work and got smart with me. I told him no and besides they are closed till the 5th. He said yeah take it somewhere else if you want to pay for it and hung up on me.

So I called them back and spoke to someone else and got it straighten out for now. I will take my X on sat to a local shop and a estimator will take a look at it. After that I can take it to a shop of my choice. Man this is turning out to be a nightmare.

Still trying to get State Farm to send out an estimator. So far I have been told 3 times that they were going to send out an estimator. First one was suppose to call me and never did. Second one was suppose to meet me at a local shop. I got there but they pulled a no-show. So now I'm waiting for the third estimator to call me to meet them at another body shop I picked. Well see how that goes. Hopefully this shop can clean up the mess.
