I'm pretty sure that all X5 E53 cars have the phone loom right up to the centre console, even if the actual phone cradle and wiring was never fitted.

There's a ton of video and DIY guides on accessing it, inc. some pictures in the links above.

Confirmed.It is in fact the phone loom that caused this problem...its a quick fix

X5 radio shuts off every 20 mins fixed

Sunnydaze I fixed the radio issue! If you still have the problem/car, send me a mssg. In the BC button. Check fuse 73 and 74 as good first.

Follow the wiring from fuse F73 to unloader relay and there to connectors X322 and X229. Disconnect those connectors and use a multimeter to check resistance against ground to see which line is shorted.

Thanks, I'll give it a try in a few weeks. I'm in the middle of a divorce and my key fob just became inoperative after sitting for 2 weeks. I only have one so I'm debating cracking it open or ordering a new one.



Anyway, I'll post back after I have more time to troubleshoot the 73 and 74.
