Given how rare and hard to find a complete kit like this, I'd jump on it. Even comes with the rubber plug for the receiver.

I know. If I didn't just spend $725 getting my alternator bracket leak fixed - I'd probably nail it!

I had started calling wreckers listed on car-parts.com. Trailer hitch is one of the categories of parts they list - there were over a dozen listed. Prices were around $200-$300, but the wreckers are not very good at identifying the OEM vs aftermarket ones. I posted some pictures last week of one that was supposed to be OEM but was really a Curt. I got them to agree to send me pictures of the actual hitch before they packaged it, and am glad I did. Got frustrated and didn't call the next one on the list...

That is way too much. It is work but possible to piece it together for under 400. I did.

I just had my alternator leak fixed too! Hope that's it for a while. For the hitch, mine was around $750 new from dealer. I tried hunting the wreckers, but there was a serious lack of knowledge on OE vs aftermarket. Plus all the bits were missing. I just caved and got the new one when I found it.

What's up with the cut wires? Is that just from the X5 it was pulled from?
Trying to compare it to pics of NIB here on the forum.

If you really need a hitch and want a one stop shop, then this can be justified. I bought a brand new one (still in box) for a lot less but just because. If it was around this price I never would have for the amount I use mine but if you want to use a hitch often this is easily worth the cost since you do not need to track parts (in good condition) down.

There was an OEM hitch (i believe) for sale where I got my sport seats. I think he told me $500 with a complete 4.8iS rear bumper attached to it.

Those cut wires are from the donor X5. If you look at the kit on ECS Tuning, you'll see the exact parts you need. Here is the link - they've pulled it from their normal listings, but this link still works to see the parts you get. 71600009711 - Trailer Hitch Kit - (NO LONGER AVAILABLE) - ES#185392
