Leaving battery disconnected ok?

hi all , long story, already been told by one guru that removing the battery (for say 1 day) is fine, and that as long as you disconnect and reconnect correctly should X5 will be fine, but thought I'd bombard those on the forum too....basically looking to remove my suspect battery...get it load test checked at auto store....and depending on outcome either get it replaced or I keep existing one and in both cases reconnect and put X on ctek charger to charge up either the new one or the old load tested one.....

Just curious as have heard a few horror stories over batteries going flat for whatever reason, and then new ones installed but instrument clusters packing in or key fobs no longer working....but seems to be related to those who initially had flat batteries and jump started the wrong way etc or left keys in ignition during battery change out process....any feedback would be great

removing batts for a while (weeks even I'm sure) is fine.
I just recommend you leave the trunk lids opened.
you do not want these closed with no battery as it becomes a little more of a pain in the butt to get into a locked trunk (if you close/latch it).
you could also just put a cloth over the latching mechanism in the trunk as well to stop the top hatch from locking into the bottom.
Do you have a car port or garage to keep the vehicle?

Or make sure your door lock cylinder is maintained oiled/lubed and can be turned 90° counter clockwise to the manual unlock position (and make sure it works).

The one thing to watch for...is if you leave the battery disconnected too long...you may discharge the battery in the alarm siren...but that would probably take a long time to do. The alarm siren depends on the car's battery to keep it charged...but it only recharges the alarm siren's battery when the vehicle is NOT armed.

So if you reinstall the car's battery, then lock the vehicle...what ever length of time the car battery was out of the car...you need to add the length of time the car is locked to the amount of time that the alarm siren battery hasn't received a charge.

Just a thought...and again, usually doesn't become an issue...but sometimes it can...and you may get some false alarm triggering with the alarm siren interpreting the low voltage as a theft attempt.

I used to have an integra back in high school and I drove it maybe 1-2 weekends a month and I used to keep the battery disconnected and the battery lasted over 2 years like that

Rightey, ok so the car is under cover so am ok regarding weather being bad and leaving things open like the trunk , as for the door lock opening manually it is ok, ironically enough a week ago I got out of X5 left it unlocked tried to pull door handle to open and wouldnt.....! key fob fine locked unlocked car etc so I opened drivers door from inside latch then sprayed silicon spray everywhere I could and is now fine....(I replaced the carried mechanism last year with a new one!)

Ok back to the alarm an Q7silvers point about it triggering potentially I had no idea but wouldnt leaving the car unlocked be just that ie alarm not engaged/active so pulling battery out for 1day or so would make a difference? thanks for the input to all
