I took AC compressor off and last piece of body work
I need to lift it back up a bit so that heads clear the frame rail flanges. Next weekend I should be starting on the valve covers and the chain guides. I plan refresh the Vanos units. Once that is done I plan take the oil sump off and replace the seals as well as the front and rear main seal. I should probably swap the steering rack now that I am this far in?

Ready to roll out the sub-frame with motorand AT
At last it is ready to roll out from the chassis, I pulled it forward about 10" and it looks like it will clear the frame rail flanges now that the AC compressor is off.
This weekend it'll be out and ready for work on the motor. I have to hunt down a hoist that will attach to the beam in my garage so I can split the AT from the engine block.

I would have removed the front clip - the bonnet cable has a joiner up the side guard to enable it to come off

Thanks, I'll look for it. I did not look for it as it was dark already last night but this will help.

Since you have your engine coming out I suspect your going to remove the trans from the engine and do the Rear Main seal and there is a rear seal on the block for the coolant. |

I know you guys have waited with abated breath to see if I would come back on this...
Well, finally started on the disassembly after having taken the engine out several weeks back. This project has been languishing whilst I am finishing our expansion of the house. But I want to have done by New Year.....
And yes, I intend to do the RMS and the coolant seals.

How many hours do you think you have into it at this point? There is guy on youtube who claims he can drop the subframe with engine and transmission, front wheels....in a hour.

Well, that is amazing.
If you do the pan, don't you have to pull the halfshafts? If so, that opens a "since I am already here and it's apart..." can of worms. So you took the whole subframe off, motor mounts and all? Took the entire driveline along on that little skid you made? I wonder if it would be an easier process to do this on a 3.0.
