Angel Eyes..
I found some great write-ups and stuff regarding wiring up angel eyes to be on as DRL's . I went ahead and ordered a harness with relays, ect.I amgoin to wire it up like my E46. They will go on when you open the doors (tapped into footwell light), Go on when you start the car (tapped into ECU), and lastly have a switch somewhere near the LCM. I don't have a problem wiring them up , but my question is what do you do with the stock power supply? I don't want to leave it disconnected because then I will get check side lights message all the time . Thanks in advance.

My X5 has angel eyes that I would like to function while the headlamps are off, but they do not. I just got my X5 two weeks ago, and I'm still trying to figure it out.
Is this a coding issue that I can fix by setting the software differently? |

What year is your truck? What I did was coded my DRL's off ,and coded my side marker lights off. Then, to have the Angel Eyes on you need to put the headlight switch in the first position . I'm getting sick and tired of turning my lights on and off every time I get in the truck ,so I bought a wiring harness with a relay and On/Off switch. I just don't know if its safe or not to keep the lights hooked up as is and wire this harness from ECU to the stock set-up

What years are your Xs?
I installed angel eyes on my 2002. I have them connected to the footwell lights and to a fuse under the glove box that is not live until the key is turned on. The angel eyes go off and on when the doors are locked or unlocked. I leave my lights on automatic so during the day the lights are off but the angel eyes are on. I have no connection to the ECM or the LCM. I get no errors.

I also installed mine in a 2002. I wired them to the interior light from the footwell and also to the ecu. When i open the car they light up as long as the interior light is on. When i start the engine they always stay on. You have to connect the original power supply to a 100ohm 3 watts resistance. This way you will not get an error in your cluster and also you are fooling the ecu. If u need instructions pm me.

My X5 is an '05. If I set the headlamp switch to Auto, I never have to touch the switch. Lights go on if it is dark, and off if the key is turned off. If I want the lights on in daytime, I can press the Fog Light Sw., and this will turn the lights on and they go off again when the key is off. Nothing to get sick and tired of, so I'm missiong the point of coding stuff off then buying wires and relays to turn it back on again.
I just want my angel eyes to be on when I put the car into D. If it is dark then the lights are on before I can shift into D. |
