BMWjason is on a distinguished road
I would love to see a writeup on this with PICS if you do this, it will help many on this board. I will tell you the right passenger side is a piece of cake, only need to remove the starter and exhaust for access. However the Left drivers side requires removal of the front differential and lowering the engine subframe cradle several inches for access. This is from what I gather from my TIS service software.

I have said it before, best to lower the sub frame engine assembly at 100,000 miles and replace all the gaskets, motor mounts etc... Only thing is you need access to a lift and a subframe jack. Checkout this youtube video and you will get my idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0oGe1t022E
