07' 4.8i adaptive headlight issue

Hello everyone, E34 owner, new X5 owner, I just purchased it, I'm happy with it so far until I had to switch the lights on.
At first I turned the knob to the left, for some reason thinking the "A" stood for automatic, because I didnt know this thing had adaptive headlights. Going down the road I noticed the driver side headlight is turned all the way to the left facing toward oncoming traffic, the right side turns like its suppose to I guess.
Has anybody had this issue? Is it something I can repair myself?
Also the inside headlights do not go bright on high beam? The outside xenon headlights go highbeam, I'm just making sure I'm not having another issue
Thanks

Sounds like the stepper motor has gone bad in the driver's side light assembly. The part is $45, but it's a giant PITA to change as you have to take the fender off to remove the assembly. Don't take it to a stealership as they will only change the entire assembly for $2400 plus labor (I'm not kidding, wnet through this but mine was covered by good faith repair).

As to the highbeams, the inner "lights" don't come on per se. Those house the bulbs for the halos.

I appreciate the info, I believe I can handle the labor part myself, I was figuring it may of been a stepper motor, I did see in realoem that a repair kit part # was listed but wasn't quite sure what it consisted of, if its just the stepper motor I should be able to change it without having to get it recalibrated right?
