Air suspension question(s)

'09 35D. Multiple times per day, I hear the suspension compressor turn on. I am guessing but want to ask, is this normal? For example, i turn the car on in the garage, it sometimes turns on, pull into a parking space or back into garage, it turns on. If that isnt normal, does that point to something specific? And I am on CPO, would that something be covered or not. Before i visit the stealer, I wanted to have some insight.

thanks all

You can get under the vehicle and listen for any air leaking or get some soapy water and put it on the bags to see if there are any leaks. Are there any suspension sagging after it is turned off? The bags would not be covered under CPO.

Leaking bags are covered by CPO

The wording in the CPO seems to indicate it would not be covered. Certain suspension items which the bag can fall under are not covered and it could also be considered a wear and tear item. A search on Google shows some that were covered and some that were not.

as an addition, i have also recently been hearing some "clunking" occasionally from the front end. No sagging at all.

CPO is so confusing. some people say the bags are covered, others say they are not. Would welcome anyone else weighing in on all of this. thanks to those that have already. so much appreciated

Where is the sound coming from? If it is from the front, it is not a compressor.

I occasionally hear compressor-like sound from engine bay. Either after turning off vehicle or even when at a stop light. After reading up on it here, turns out that is something to do with pumping exhaust fumes and/or fuel (not sure of details anymore) around, normal.

So, make sure it is a compressor

definitely the suspension compressor. sounds like its coming from mid-car and at the end of it being on, you hear a slight hiss for 2-3 seconds

My 2008 X5 3.0Si with 90,000 miles has been completely drained of air in the rear every morning. As soon as I open a door, the compressor starts and the SAV goes back to normal height. It is on both sides. Runs fine from there, no issues, until the next morning.

Can 1 bag make both deflate?

Nope. They're both leaking. Fix ASAP before you blow your compressor.
