It will get traded when the warranty is up. I don't keep any vehicle after
warranty period. Just no excuse of such an expensive vehicle having the
problems posted on this forum. When the X5 gives out, it is taken in. Driving
an hour half is a PIA, so drive till almost or dead in its track.

Point of these forums are to get feedback from other owners. Find if problems are
great in number. Will aid in the decision process whether want to go with the brand
again.

The transmission is acting up, 10K miles. Just going to drive till locks up,
BMW can just tow. If makes it to trade time next owner can
deal with the problem.

BMWs are expensive out of warranty!

My parents have a BMW X5, just got rid of a 530i. While very nice cars, they spent a ton of money to fix them. In one year they spent over $5K on repairs. Bottom line, if you buy a BMW, expect to have deep pockets to keep it running after the warranty expires.

In all my years of owning these things, I've never once regretted a purchase. Most people drive BMW's for the drive. They are an amazing driving experience. People that whine and complain about problems and expense of repairs need to get out of the BMW and get into a Honda.

Yes we all have our moments when we complain about problems and having a 2013 anything with lots of problems is absurd but expected for a totally newly redesigned vehicle. You bought a first year production of a vehicle....NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER do that. It's unfortunate that you are having so many issues but I'm guessing you are going to have many more recurring issues throughout your ownership experience.

With my first BMW, I learned how to turn a wrench really quickly and have for the most part and now for sure with these forums been able to do a lot of work on my own or end up shelling out a bunch of money for repairs. It's the way these cars are. They're fickle and needy.

This is my 5th BMW, 3 series, 5 series, now the X. The other have been trouble
free compared to the X. Law of averages, just time for a lemon.

Beginning to think as some mentioned part of my problems with mileage is the
Regen cycle. Its been filled 3 time, 4 if count the factory fill. In 15,000 miles.
One suggested why mileage low is the vehicle is staying in Regen cycle too often.
Ever since purchased hear a pump sound coming on. Some say they think its
what pumping the fluid from the tank. It comes on at least once during a drive
something quick sometimes runs for a while. Service at BMW says no code
is being shown, so not much they can do.

Not an expert but that pumping sound may be the air compressor
that keeps the rear suspension bags pumped up. I hear it every
now and again also. Not to worry.

BMWs are overrated.
E53 was introduced in '99, Touareg in '02, and was facelifted in 04, so '05 Touareg should be closer to E70 than to E53. Still the driving dynamics are not even in the same ballpark.
At the end of the day, even with reliability problems (which have a very easy explanation, if someone just looks a bit deeper), many people will buy bimers for a few different reasons. I have to drive SUV (SAV) as a partial compromise and I dont see what else in the market could come even closer overall to my '12 X5D. For me that is.

there all the same anymore, rides down the interstate on cruise are comfortable.
Some offer fairer prices on repairs.

What I get next time depends on who does the best deal on trade. If BMW than
so be another BMW. If not than be another brand, don't keep a vehicle past the
warranty so all are good. Blow the money on High end because can, not because
better.
