Faulty Glow plug error code - replaced all 6
CIDF - A48D Car drives normally, 4A2E seems to relate to glow plug in cylinder number 5, I could be wrong though, anyone know what A48D is? (edit) NVM, CIDF is for the rear screen entertainment. So, it looks like I will be changing all 6 glow plugs...

Ninja had a similar code and the issue was with the module, not the individual plug. Take a look here: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...diagnosis.html

Yes I had similar code for cylinder 3 but it turned out to be glow plug module.I was experiencing rough idle for first few seconds during low ambient temp.
Bmw says that there is no proper way of checking glow plugs by measuring resistance but i would still check and compare the resistances of all 6 glow plugs.Atleast it would tell you if cylinder 5 glow plug is totally dead or not. How is your thermostat?Does engine temp stays above 80~85 deg C? Regarding your A48D code, rheingold says A48D is for rear seat entertainment reset(no fault).Image attached... |

Interesting
I'm going to change all 6 glowplugs since I have to take the damned intake manifold off.

So I just pulled the manifold and replaced all 6 glow plugs. The fault is still present. I guess that means I have to order and replace the module.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I will have to pull the manifold again when I have the part in hand

Good job!!Your intake ports are looking really clean.Did you clean the carbon off?Did you remove the glow plugs while the engine was warm?

No, both sets of ports were really clean, I was actually suprised that I didn't have any carbon build up on the swirl valves. The engine was warm (not hot) when I did the glow plugs
