Hey Greg.
How’d your go about getting your carpet up? You cut it in the middle?
How do I pull it up?

Hey "02...."

I ended cutting it left and right of the pump.... HOWEVER, other forum users said that the carpet can be un-clipped under the seat. Please avoid doing what I did, keep your car nice.

I just did this about a month ago. The fuel pump is under passenger 2nd row rear seat. You have to remove only the 2nd row seat to access the fuel pump.

Do you have a 3rd row on your X5? I know that if you DO NOT have a third row seat it's under the passenger seat I've seen many pictures of that but I've yet to see a picture of any any posting of an X5 e70 with 3rd row seat FP location. With 3rd row second set of seats pull up and there's nothing underneath

Yes - I have 3rd row seating and confirmed it’s under 2nd row passenger seat.

Awesome thanks I'll take a look today. Apparently there's a 10-year warranty not a recall but a 10-year extended warranty on the fuel delivery module.

Hello. I have small leak too. I bought a car from USA and bring it to Europe. I know that EU version has much simpler EVAP system. It is possible to shut off EVAP system? To code it off?

Wow, very nice write up. Wish I saw this before tackling the fuel transfer pump.

I made a short video on how to disconnect the fuel lines since there wasn't any info online about it:

https://youtu.be/8j4oZLnz8_M

I will edit a full length vid of the entire job and post it up as well. Thanks for this write up.

If you've got the letter the repair is free.
Here's the link for the recall for anyone who hasn't had this done yet or didn't get a letter:
