Really guys?!!! just pull it up, mine was kind of stuck, the dipstick have two o-rings just lube them and re-insert the dipstick... that solves the problem...

No twisting, just pull it up.

When I got my x5 it must have never been removed because it was hard to remove.
Now it is easier.

Again referring to my previous diesel auto, I read horror stories of breaking the dip stick tube.
