Coded Tailgate but doesn't close with fob button

Sup guys,

I coded the tailgate to close with the key fob on my 2010 X5. When I open it and attempt to close it using the fob, I hear something clicking in the tailgate but it doesn't close. I'm not sure if I'm hitting the key fob button correctly. If I press it once I hear the tailgate click but won't close. If I hold it down the panic alarm goes off. Am I missing something?

Does it work pressing the tail gate button in the dash?

For me, I have to press and hold the button for a couple of seconds before the tail gate closes. Fine line between holding long enough and setting off the alarm. But, you get the hang of it. Mine does not make a clicking noise...it just works.

I have my kefob and button coded for closing. Worked fine for weeks, but a few days ago had an occurrence where it wouldn't close - just click. Wouldn't close from inside button either. After starting the engine and stopping, getting out and trying again, it worked. Go figure.

Apparently it started working this morning. All seems good now.

Thanks

Arthur C. Clarke's Third Law is Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Late model BMW's are sufficiently advanced.

NCS Expert is the (BMW) tool of choice if you want full coding capabilities.

It's not possible with BMWhat. Contact them so they will work on getting it to the E70.
