Power steering fluid quantity
I looked everywhere, even in Rheingold and still could not find the total quantity of power steering fluid that the installation holds for models that have the Adaptive Drive package. The Adaptive Drive system uses the same fluid from the same expansion tank as the power steering does. As aside from the power steering and the expansion tank, the Adaptive drive includes multiple pipes, valves, a cooling radiator and the active antiroll bars themselves, i doubt that the regular 1 liter is enough to change the entire fluid. Can anyone please look in a more recent Rheingold for this info and maybe also share with me the procedures for changing it? Should i just suck from the tank/refill, drive, multiple times or should i go with the usual backflow pipe remove drain while engine running, top-up in the tank in the same time ? Thanks |

I just sucked it out from reservoir and filled it back up with some Prestone... But that's how you shouldn't be doing it

P/S fluid qty.
I've changed 3 hoses on my 2006 X 3.0, not 100% sure that Rack lost the liquid, but to fill back up was less then a quart, A lot less. As was recommended here in the forum, I filled up, let the engine run, sucked all all the fluid out, refilled - about 2-3 time before that quart ran out.
So if you have/buy a quart - it should be safe to say that it is enough to refill your system, whatever you plan on doing with it.
