Yeah there is an adapter under them which gets bolted to the body with with many bolts, the top part is just a cover that basically rests on top of that bracket. My kid steps on it all the time getting in and i have stepped on them few time. You will be fine, unless you are like 300+lbs or something

Thanks, though this sounds like the opposite from Jyohay's post above yours...

the painted sills use the same supports as the normal ones.
they are NOT reinforced.
the aluminum use a different support and are sprayed with some industrial adhesive from the factory although i think thats to keep them water tight for rusting reasons not for structural integrity

Definitely not metal, but very strong EPDM plastic ... almost feels like carbon fiber reinforced. Very strong!

If/when I have a chance, I will look at the marking on the pieces.

Painted, unpainted, aluminum... they are all reinforced in the same manner and can easily support you standing on them.
