LCI LED tail light retrofit OEM BMW, including coding

BMW has officially released a LED tail light retrofit for the E92/E93 3 series (including M3) and E70 X5 (including X5M). All parts are OEM including the adapter harness (E92/E93 only). Coding is required, but any BMW dealership can do the coding. I had the LCI retrofit installed and coded on both my M3 and X5 this week. I love the look of the LCI tail lights!

what do you mean by BMW officially realeased the retrofit retrofit? you mean it's part of their parts catelog now? Or they officially support the mod through some announcement?
please clarify, thank you

I bought the LCI tails from getBMWparts, but no where they said it was BMW official retrofit.

BMW's Aftersales Business Development & Marketing Department released a bulletin to all dealers regarding this retrofit. I don't know if it is part of their parts catalog, but the Parts Departments at all BMW dealerships should be aware of this retrofit.

getBMWparts is a BMW dealership (BMW of Silver Spring) and they are selling the kit at a great price. You will still need to get your X5 coded by a BMW dealership.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to quote prices on this forum, so I'll PM you.

Would be great if they retrofitted the camera and idrive. Good to know they even do this sort of stuff.

Speaking of the camera. I remember how AWFUL the back up camera was on my '07 and '08 E70. It is brilliantly clear & crisp on my 2011.

When I would complain to the dealer(s) about how horrible the camera was on both the '07 & '08...they would just say they are all like that, and there is nothing that can be done. Bad and unwanted answer, but the truth!

Since the '11 and '12 E70 have great backup cameras, if those of you with '07-'10 E70s complain how horrible the cameras are...doesn't the dealer have to swap the cameras out? There is NOW a fix. Just like with new software, or a better mechanism for a loose rear tailgate, or re-engineered sunroof tracks, or improved Comfort Access...BMW "tries" to fix problems.

Why not get new cameras???

^ I tried complaining and got someone from BMW NA to actually call me back. It boiled down to "didn't you see the quality of the camera before you purchased the vehicle?" Nothing further your honor.

This was before the LCI was out though and the better cameras available. What is this fix you speak of?
