Nowadays, if you order a coil from BMW you will receive a product made in China which fails within a few months, at best Aftermarket coils also are are made in the next Chinese village, so not a big chance to last for a long time. Either way, still coil for me
The Bremi coils on my previous X5, '03 4.6is, all failed within 1 year/10k miles. I always carry a spare coil and with my luck they all failed far from home so i had to replace 5 of them at different occasions before I replaced the rest in one shot. Of course i installed used Bosch coils and they still work fine after 3 years/30 k miles.
I guess the car in question is also made from the next Chinese village.

Checking coils for individual cylinder mis-fires is possibly the easiest thing to diagnose.

You take the allegedly bad coil and swap it with another one. If the the code moves to the new cylinder is the coil if it doesn't you carry on. Next thing is a the spark plug for which you do the exact same thing: move the allegedly bad plug to another cylinder and drive around if the code moves with the plug then it's the plug.

At least that's what I've been doing...

Injectors are a common problem on these newer high pressure fuel systems, I just replaced all of mine in my X5M. Look on the 3 series boards, it's EVERYWHERE. Look at your injectors, it'll have a number like *091 ** or 260 **. Those last two **'s are the index number, mine were Index 07, failed due to leaking, so I ordered new ones from RockAuto Parts Catalog, they're BMW injectors, got them for about $112 each shipper and got the newest index 12's now. They NEED to be coded so the car will run correctly with them.

OP's N52 is not a DI engine.

I'll comment that OP said he replaced spark plugs (plural) and coil (singular).

So back to helping the OP solve HIS issue...

OP what did you replace.
What tools do you have to diagnose? Some BMW software can pinpoint which cylinders are running off. (The "run unrest" test)
If you are going to change coils, be generally aware of the firing order- you want to move the suspected bad coil FAR away- ive seen one bad coil cause neighbors to show up bad. (so if you move to the next position, it can be confusing)

@M5James:

Do you mean after replacing a fuel injector, one must recode the new injector info into the computer in order to make the injector working correctly? How does one do this recoding?

I am working on a 2008 X5 3.0si which got a P0306 (for cylinder #6 misfire) and I replaced the coil and spark plug and it still got the P0306. I then replaced the injector ($140 from AutoZone) and it still has the P0306, the engine runs rough at idle or acceleration or both (with no particular pattern to know before hand).

I am not sure if the fuel injector I purchased from AutoZone online is compatible for the 2008 X5 3.0si, even though AutoZone says it fits the 2008 BMW X5 3.0si when I made the online purchase.

The first photo is the box of the injector that shows "P18046" and "800-1725N" (part # on the order form) . As the injector has been installed, I am unable to whatever codes on the injector at this time.

The second and third photos shows the original BMW fuel injector off the X5 3.0si. It has the prints "7 531 634" and "7296??7037" on one side and "223/07 10" (manufacturing date?) on the other side.

I did a search on eEuroparts.com just now and it has a rebuilt fuel injector by GB Reman. On the part page it says the part number to be 13537531634 and can be had for $34 each. Its part #'s last 7 digits (starting from #7) match the "7 531 634" on the original BMW fuel injector.

I also got a Genuine BMW fuel injector listing on pelicanparts.com

https://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog...FULINJ_pg1.htm

and it says that this "Injection Valve" fits the vehicle. It is listed for $202.75 each and the Part # is 13-53-7-531-634-BOE. I don't know what BOE means here but the last 7 digits match the section on the original injector.

I am tempted to purchase the BMW part (so to avoid coding the computer that I do not know how). As this replacing one fuel injector (#6) DIY becomes more expensive (already spend $140 on a unit from AutoZone), I like to hear expert advice before going further spending another $200+ on it.

(The "Insert Image" button directs me to a place http that I don't have. Is there another way to "copy and paste" a photo?)

you seem to be sure it is an injector issue. Throwing parts is expensive.
