Orange plastic tool in the trunk

Just realized that my X5 doesn't have the orange plastic tool in the trunk, the tool that can be used to switch the transmission from park into neutral in case it needs to be towed. Any idea where I can find it? Or maybe a BMW part number? I tried realoem but couldn't find anything. Thanks for any help.

On 2011 and up X5 models you cannot disenagge park from the cockpit. There is a screw from the bottom of the car, driver side. You have to use socket 10mm. However you need the orange handle to disengage the E-brake manually.

You're right. The top part looks like an orange plastic tool is what I need to get inside to switch from P to N, but when I removed the top cover, I see something that looks like a 10mm bolt, way different than what I expected.

Where and how would you use this tool on a 2008 X5? I have seen it but I did not know what it was for.

If you need to release the transmission into Neutral... so you can get your SAV on the Tow Truck (cause it died)

If you want to release an emergency break (parking break) that failed

Releasing the parking brake manually - Parking brake - Driving - Controls - BMW X5 Owners Manual - BMW X5 | BMWManuals.org

These are just two I'm aware of.
