Slow ccc idrive boot up. What is normal

My 2009 idrive is slow to boot up. Sometimes it takes 15+ seconds for the backup camera to cut on. One out of 5 times the camera comes up in 3 seconds. When slow, it just sticks at the BMW logo. Unlocking with the key fob seems to give it a head start.

I hear the DVD spinning a lot while this is happening. Once booted things are still slow for the next 30 seconds. Specifically radio presets sometimes don't work until fully booted along with the inability to select other idrive options. I have had one full lockup in the past month.

So what is normal with these old CCC systems? Also, what is a good number to budget if I want to go CIC. It looks like around $1500. My 09 only has 37k miles on it and the only missing option I care about is the CIC.

thanks

Mine Does the same thing. I am looking to just upgrade the whole thing. Started with the controller....liking the functionality of it. I just figured that this is the usual functionality of a long in the tooth CCC. My old 530 was the same way. The 528, 135 and 235 are lightning fast but all hard drive.

Perfectly normal. Upgrade to CIC if you want to improve the behavior.

Most of the online vendors don't provide the full cost of upgrade. It depends on what features your car currently has and ones you want to carry over and add.

I would budget anywhere from $2 - $3K

That's what my '08 does. I almost pulled the trigger to upgrade but I realized this car is short lived for my garage. The N62 and this chassis overall really are a disaster waiting to happen.
