Loose Trim Piece on Windshield

Hi,
I was looking over the X this morning, and noticed a loose trim piece on the passenger side of the windshield.
The thin strip is lose at the bottom, where it meets the hood line.
I don't see any clips behind it, did I loose something or did something break?

Thanks in advance for any ideas...
John

Same with mine, when i noticed it was off was after a car wash. Mine actually bent a bit and flaked the paint. I pushed it back down but the paint is cracked now. Not sure why it became loose but car wash spinners caught it, be careful.

Same exact thing here. I have some 3M adhesive left over from resealing the vapor barrier for the door. I'm wondering if this will be strong enough to hold it in place if I tape it down long enough to cure?

Solved!!

Hi,

There is most likely a very small (1/2" x 1/2") clip missing... I don't know how or why, but mine was missing and I NEVER run my X through the scratch-o-matic car wash.

It's a cheap & easy fix...
How often can we say that about our BMWs?

Here's the part you need, 51137177926.
It was $3 at my local BMW parts department, they had 1 in stock...???

Pull the loose trim piece back a little bit, clip this on the edge of the windshield about 1.5" from the bottom, then the trim pushes down into the slot. Done!

Thanks,
John

My guess is windshield was replaced and that clip was lost.

Hi Chris,
Not unless someone broke into my garage and did it overnight.
I've owned the X since day one and no glass changes...

Thanks,
John

Thanks I'll give it a try. But with the dealer stocked parts here in Jax I'll probably need two trips.

There are three different clip types along the windshield.
The moron that replaced my windshield broke a few and after I found that out I shot him.

... just kidding, I was dreaming of shooting the a!@#, I went to the dealer and purchased replacement parts and installed those under new trim that I had painted to match.
