From what I understand this sensor is only to activate the heater in the active tank. I dont believe it's readings are compared to the ambient temp sensor readings, or monitored for changes. The car could be sitting all night at temps under freezing and in the morning the sun could be heating-up the front of the car(hello California ) and the difference between the tank and the ambient sensor readings could be as high as 20F.

I haven't spliced the wire yet but I noticed my scanner is picking up another code... For driver detection. I have no idea what this is, it pulls up under diesel electronics system only

So an update:

I tried the 10k resistor by splicing the wires I did not cut them just removed the wire cover and soldered the resistor in line... with no luck.

Can this be tuned out via Carly app? What are the last resort options for this?

If the thermistor is shorted what you did may not work. It is not a big deal to cut one of the wires and see what will happen.

Ok I was curious, I will try that, however if that doesn't work can it be coded out?

What are the thermistor specs? I'm not sure what you mean by "wired in line"...you would need to cut the two wires to the old thermistor and install the new element.

I cut the wires today, installed a 10k resistor and had no luck. Any other suggestions on possible thermistors? Or maybe even a way to test the one in the tank to see if I'm chasing the wrong problem?
