Professional 8.8" CCC idrive retrofit

As title says...... Sorry to bring up an exhausted subject, but I cant find out exactly what i'm looking for. What is exactly needed for me for to be able to pull it off. So far I've did a bit of research and found that I need the following:

Professional 8.8" CCC idrive

8.8" monitor head unit
iDrive controller
DVD navigation unit

From what I've read it is not plug and play it needs to be coded correct? Also read about if you take you car for service to the dealer you will need to remove it and place your old one in to prevent them from upgrading the software? A bit confused on that part. Is it even worth doing the retrofit? I really like the idea of a bigger screen can I just get the screen and hook it up to my current setup?

i'd recommend throwing the extra cash at it and fit a CIC instead.

better bluetooth connectivity
HD screen
better reversing camera
newer nav
all-round better UI
etc etc

if a job is worth doing, it's worth doing it properly

What would I need, also as mentioned in my first post, would I have to remove it all if dealer updates software ?
