Hi there,
Apologies if this post rambles but new to the forum, and looking to make some changes to my 2013 XDrive 35i, and wondering if my ideas are a waste of time and/or money.

The car is very clean and mint, 35k miles, and has most of the extras I'd like. Space grey with black interior. It was my wife's car, the lease expired on my daily commuter so the x5 is now mine and we got a new family car.

Three things I don't particularly like; the wheels, the exhaust note and the wood effect inserts in the dash etc.

It's going to be my daily driver, approx 60 mile round trip per day, all on rt10 and i280 in northern New Jersey.

Firstly I was wondering if I can replace the wood inserts? I saw someone had replaced the black trim around the center console in with carbon fibre.

Second, does anyone have any suggestions for upgraded exhausts? I've never been happy with the sound and in my searching, I haven't really seen much about updated exhausts for this model.

Thirdly the wheels. It has 19" wheels that come with run flats which is like to keep for the winter, but would like to possibly upgrade to something similar to the 375 or 599 model wheels.

Below is a picture of my car, plus what appears to be an identical color/age/model I found on the forum with model 375 wheels.

Any and all suggestions welcome, apologies for the ramble but I had to throw this email together between dinner and a play date with my three year old...

ha! I have the same Space Gray and black interior with these wheels.



You probably have the same bamboo wood trim. I looked into changing it out, but many people say it's a PITA to remove especially the two long panels around the center console and the one on the glovebox. I've seen others who vinyl wrap the trim with a carbon fiber design. Looks really nice.
