I would just take the insurance check and move on. This is not a 1970 Nova. Replacing the engine is not the issue. I would be far more afraid of all the sensors and modules that are ruined by the water.
Sorry for the loss. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So sorry to see this. I hope it works out for you and your wife. I agree with others, let insurance total it, look for another. Similar one if you want. I would be glad wife is fine, but heart broken if that where my e70.

Yea let insurance do it. Used n62 may be bad, may need work. Get new from insurance. Who knows if trans is still good too. Plus our million modules under water.

If water did not come inside truck, then most modules are probably fine. No low mounted module under the hood. Claim insurance. If they total it, consider buying back and fixing with the money left over...only issue would be salvaged title. If you find an engine from a different BMW series, it may require swapping oil pans and some other bits here and there. So, save the damaged engine until the new engine is installed and working as it should.
Most likely the hydrolocked engine block is damaged beyond repair. That bend rod hit something in the block and probably cracked or broke off a chuck. You may even find a hole somewhere (like in valley). |
