Climate system issues

Our X5 is located at the Grand Canyon and experiences wild temperature fluctuations so the climate system is crucial. The blower seized up and I was able to get it out and with a bit of lube got it spinning again and now works fine except now I only have ac on the drivers side and just blowing air on the passenger and absolutely no heat on either side. 20 degrees at night and 80 degrees during the day requires both, plus when we take it to Vegas it can't keep up. The back seat mimics the front same issue left right still no heat. The climate presets all work doesn't matter where I set the flow blue or red doesn't matter. I hear the servos changing when I change the setting so I'm not sure where I've gone wrong. Prior to removing the blower there was no issue with temperature.

Have you had the AC system serviced?

When the freon load starts dropping the system stops providing cool air to the pax side- so a classic symptom of low freon is the side-to-side variation.

You also state the system has trouble cooling in hot environments- another sign you should have the overall AC checked out.

Very hard to DIY- proper way is to evac the system, determine freon mass, recharge to a specific weight. $100 at any competent AC shop. If you HAVE lost some freon, have them put tracer in- next time youll be able to see leaks. Add $15

I'll have the ac system looked at but still can't figure the heat side of the equation. It makes sense if it starts shutting down the ac side to side but no heat is strange. Competent might be hard to find in our area. Thank you for your advice.

Have you scanned it for error codes?

I've scanned it several times and monitor it all the time and nothing shows.
