Clicking steering wheel or column

I have a clicking noise developing from either the steering wheel or steering column. It occurs when moving the wheel slightly left and right from the centre position and if I push up slightly on the wheel.

A little digging around on the Internet and BMW workshop manual suggested the following:

Steering column to
steering spindle centre
section connection not
tight enough

Does this mean anything or does anybody know how to rectify?
