I don't think it got hot enough. I was able to scrape away a bit of the corner of the label but it was not coming off easily. I then tried to pre-heat the visor in the hot sun, then hit it with the hair dryer, same results. Going to have to borrow a friend's heat gun and try again. I do not want to mess with chemicals if I don't have to. |

I didn't want to mess, or make a mess, with the chemicals either...

Follow up...
/ AND Update / Yep, heat gun worked, but use caution. I carefully used an old smooth paint scraper on the warmed decal, it was slow going. But I did put a very small tear in the vinyl of the second visor Maybe a dab of black marker will hide the white showing through the hole.ALSO I held the visor too close to the heat gun at times, and got some small areas melted smooth... *sigh* Now I have to rough those up a bit to reduce the glossy look. ALSO the residue of the stickers is not completely coming off. I tried Simple Green, wd-40, and mineral spirits and none of them removed the remaining residue. Tried some neighbor's GOO GONE. Did NOT touch it. Bought some GOOF OFF, and after ~hour of scrubbing with a stiff brush and rubbing with cloth, it didn't do much either, just made it marginally less obvious than it was. Overall I am not as happy with this as I hoped. They don't jump out at you but sitting in the car and looking at them, you can see the area the stickers used to be. And my small tear. I'll take the blame for the heat gun OOPs; But I don't know why my adhesive residue is not coming off like others. I love free mods as much as the next guy, just wanted to relay the troubles for those of you reading up on this and considering doing the job. Now I know why some have opted to just purchase new Euro visors with the No-Warning-label. Last edited by heatmizr; 06-21-2016 at 03:28 PM. Reason: Added more to the story |
