I did the same, waiting for my cable to arrive to try this:
BMW Apps retrofit to E70 LCI - XBimmers.com | BMW X6 Forum X5 Forum Also found this: http://www.xoutpost.com/regional-for...ssie-bmws.html Keep us posted if you can get it going.

As a followup, my car has 6NF - Smartphone integration, check with dealer to see if the 6NF base plate has the wiring for video and they said yes. So I ordered 6NR retrofit software only from Bimmertech and bought a Media snap-in adapter.
After Bimmertech installed the software, it turns out the 6NF is NOT wired for video feed to the CIC. So I have all the BMW Apps functionality except no video feed, which also means Plug-In doesn't work because you can't see. I am ordering the video cable from Bimmertech to add the wire from the base plate. It is backordered however. Lessons learned, trust Bimmertech when they say you will need the wire from the base plate, even if you have 6NF, and you don't want to change the USB/AUX to USB/Video (i.e. only have the video through the snap in adapter). Another big lesson learned, don't forget to add BMW Apps when ordering, hardware is involved and it is not just a software coding exercise. It is also an expensive retrofit. Scott |

I just ordered the 6NR retro for my 2011 X6 from the guys at Bimmertech.. My goal is to get Netflix and my Slingbox app to utilize the Nav screen. From what the very helpful Bimmertech folks have told me I should be good to go... I do not know if I have the video cable from the baseplate and will mention that to them when they code to code my car...
Please update when your cable comes in.. .anxious to hear how this goes for you.. Good luck. |

I received the video cable from Bimmertech; talked dealer service into installing it for me (standard mechanics hourly rate, ouch...). Everything is now working as expected. It's been along journey to get the BMW Apps retrofit. Rationally it's not worth the money I've put in for this, but sometimes you just want it...

Sorry to re-awaken this but, I am trying to code $6NR to my FA and I don't see CIC in NCS Expert. Only CAS and FRM. This is so frustrating. My E70 has a combox and when I go to connecteddrive, it's says to connect a phone. I can't tether my phone though. Guessing I'll have to code that as well correct?

You are getting confused, you need to read the CAS or FRM to load the FA. Then you modify the FA and add $6NR, then you process ECU, and in that list you will see the CIC.
Did you read the guide on how to change your FA ?

Thanks Bluedragon. I figured it out eventually. I did read the guide. I haven't done anything yet though. I can only perform operations on CAS. When I try to do anything on FRM, I get the VIN faulty error. I'm going to reinstall the suite of BMW apps and give it another go.
