E53 to E70 3.0i Petrol

Hi Everyone

I have just sold my mint E53 3.0 petrol and it had a very good 5 speed auto, which provided great "off the line" surge in first/second if you gave it just a bit more than normal throttle.

Now I am about to buy a E70 3.0 Petrol and the first one I have driven - didn't have that same punch? It was the 6 speed auto of course.

So the question is - who's gone from an E53 to an E70, did you experience this - or is it just this particular car that I drove?

Cheers
stu

the E70s are very heavy vehicles. the 3.0 is a bit puny. go for the turbo if you need it to be a 6cyl. or choose the diesel.

Go for a V8...
It's what you need if you want performance from these heavy vehicles.

I'll probably live to eat theses words, but mine has been surprisingly reliable and maintenance easy. Of course I did get a warranty valve seal job. The flip side is like the other morning when I was laying in bed and my wife moved my car in the driveway (very early) and I awoke genuinely curious who's car was making that awesome noise.

Try applying more pressure to the gas pedal. That typically gets mine moving nicely. The E70 is a pig with the 6cyl non turbo. But its great on gas vs the V8. You'll find that in comparison to the E53 its completely different. Plus the engine is different as well.

E53 and E70 are almost same weight.

Love my V8 X5. Definitely delivers a neck snap to the headrest with a jab of the throttle.
