Annoying sound in the cabin w AC on / Video link
I just bought a 2011 X5 yesterday and it has this annoying sound in the cabin. This noise is only heard inside the vehicle. With the hood open listening in from the engine compartment, it's quiet. I did some digging around the internet but I couldnt narrow it down to what it was. But I found an youtube video that sounds 100% like my car. Here is the video link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZH6hZHZQyyQ Anybody know the fix for this issue? I do have extended warranty but it's for the powertrain and I don't think this issue will be covered. Thank you for the help! |

I can't hear it....
But if it's coming on/off when you turn the fan on/off, my guess is the blower motor. Something I need to do too, and supposedly it's an easy fix. |

Blower Motor is dying. Ill say what halped to save mine or prevented/prolonged its death was replacing all of the filters cabin and intake for the air system. The filters were so clogged and disgusting. Upon doing this....havent heard one noise from that fan and it functions prefectly. Its not a solution but its more of a bandaid until you have the time to tear into the fan.

Has anyone tried to repair the blower motor, worn out bearings probably is the cause.
