A stupid, glorious beast...

Remember When BMW Put A Le Mans Racing V12 In An X5?
I bet this was interesting to drive 'round zhe 'Ring!

What an insulting article! This car is a state of the art and no one else did something similar to this day. BTW, it is rear wheel drive only. This is the car that fired up my desire for X5.
BMW brought it to Monterey this year, but I was not lucky enough to hear it's voice. Based on the V12 LMR and McLaren F1 sounds it must also from another world.

Is that really a BMW creation? Looks like it's got stretched rear tires which would be stupid.

According to the article it is a BMW creation. 190 mph top speed ! I would imagine those racing slicks would be very compliant and stretchy looking. Still cool though.

VW did something vaguely similar, by cramming a W12 behind the front seats of a mk5 golf that was never intended as a production car.

if you were to throw a 2.5t pampers bomber with a high centre of gravity and unholy amounts of power through corners at ludicrous speed, i think that's what your tyres (if they even still tried to hold on for dear life, instead of sending you off into the scenery) would most definitely look like at the time.

Well, I hope you realize that your comparison is just ridiculous. VW's creation was un-drivable and plain show car with no real world performance, unlike the X5 LeMans. If it were to be driven hard on the Ring it would have been caught fire, overheat, crash and brake in half, few times each

it's probably wise for you to leave your soap boxes on facebook

yeah, it drives. maybe like a bucket of shit, but it drives. as far as proof-of-concept goes, it's therefore in the same ball park as the x5lm. note that the latter is being driven by a highly decorated former BMW racing driver with decades of experience, so i wouldn't exactly take bets on which is more driveable. the main difference being, the w12 engine is actually lifted from a road-going bentley, as such it will cold start and drive on standard fuel.

also, mr stuck, who's driving the x5lm mentions twice in the video that the car is actually AWD, so you're wrong about that too. feel stupid yet or unable to tell the difference?

You can go to your dieselgate forums all you want, but please do not tell me not to express my excitement of a BMW engineering marvel in a BMW forum.
I may not be correct for the RWD, but I highly doubt they did drill the V12 oil pan to route the front axle and anyway, in 2000 BMW didnt have the technology to produce a real performance 4x4 as the X drive came out in 2004.

This group may have taken it one step further. And although it is a pretty interesting little Honda SUV, the P75 E53 SAV is still bad ass..!!

I’ll take one of each please! LoL..
