Kmvguy83's E70 LOG

This thread is made to keep an online log of "new-to-me" car.

Small Intro:
We bought this car to replace my wife's totaled 2012 Camry. We were rear-ended and got sandwiched in between 2 SUVs.
My wife wanted a bigger vehicle after the accident and I was also looking for a truck to tow my cars.
After doing some research X5 seems like a really good fit for the job.
-6000lbs towing capacity
-Mid-size SUV (easier for my wife to drive since this is her primary)
-TURBO (lol... I hope I don't start messing with this car...)

I'm a HUGE car guy, and I LOVE DIYs... I pretty much work on everything (rebuilding engine, engine swaps, paint, etc...)

This is my first European/BMW so help is greatly appreciated.
Feel free to leave a reply/respond.

2011 BMW X5 35i w/ M-package
VIN: 5UXZV4C50BL404911

Update:
-List of things to check.

List of things to check:
-Whirling noise when AC is on.
-Possible blower motor

-Huff of refrigerant smell on cold starts
-Possible evaporator leak, will check as soon as extended warranty transfers over.

-Passenger A/C zoning has different temperature than the driver. It seems to always run a bit hotter than the driver side.
-Probably related to problem above.

-Power steering cap leak.
-Need to order a new seal for the cap.

My car (e70 3.0si) exhibits the same behaviour; the air coming out from the passenger side seems to be always a bit warmer vs. driver side....

Will update you on the details once I find out more about this.
It can't be normal for sure.

Do you also happen to smell refrigerant from the vents on start ups?

Check your climate temp settings in the i drive first. Match the direction of air flow and temp bias on driver and passenger sides.
