auxillary water pump short draining battery?
Question -- when you drive your e70 with 4.8 (like mine) when you turn off the car to you hear a buzz? of the aux water pump running? I do not! Help -- I do not have the fuse box card for the fuse layout for my 2007 e70, can someone give me a link? |

auxilary water pump located
the auxillary water pump located under the power steering fluid reservoir.
clearly hard to replace given the location, ugh! I really need to know from my fellow e70 4.8i (non turbo) brothers, when you drive your x5 and get it fully warm, then you stop the car do you hear this pump running, apparently runs for 10+ minutes off and on? I hear nothing! |

Nobody knows where a fuse box diagram for 2007 e70 4.8i can be found?
I Charged up battery after engine cooled for about 4 hours, then I left x5 sitting as i slept for 9 hours, then I put on charger again, ... and found no discharge. So Seems to be it discharges when warmed from using and then turned off. I do not hear the electric water pump or the electric fans running. So I think there is short while the car attempts to run one or both of these? Too bad no manual way to force these to run to know that they can. Any ideas? |

You should be able to run the coolant pump by performing the bleed procedure. Put key in, press start (foot off brake), hold down gas pedal for 20 seconds.... pump should turn on.
You can use ISTA diagnostic software to manually run coolant pump or electric fan for 20 seconds. |

It runs on Windows.. you'll need to buy a USB adapter.. it was quite a process to get it up and running. The pedal trick should work to get the pump running. |

I tried "Put key in, press start (foot off brake), hold down gas pedal for 20 seconds"
this multiple times but no noises heard, no pump noises no fan noises! Is there a way to test electric fans too? I am not hearing-seeing fan run either. Maybe fuse in ibs? can they be replaced? Something weird here for sure. Thanks for any wisdom |

Well another poster just yesterday said the 2007 V8 does not have an electric pump... so that would explain why you hear nothing.

I found the coolant bleeding system the pump runs and isn't my auxiliary water, which my e79 does have!

My e70 does NOT have any water pump running sound AFTER turn off. No, it does not have an electric water pump either.
Battery drain is a common issue for this car. The navigation system could be a possible source of the drain. Good luck. |
