We had to pay out of pocket to do this on our 2008 4.8i. It is a problem but BMW only covering 2011+

Gave way when my son was driving . Ruined the right exhaust manifold and some transmission lines. $4500 and there is no stock anywhere in the world, not even in Germany.

I took my 48i in to the indy for what I thought was tire vibration last year and failing driveshaft was what it was. Luckily they correctly diagnosed it. Believe I paid $1600 for the entire repair and it was done in a day or so. In my case the part was readily available. I also questioned the extent of the problem but it clearly isn’t limited to the recalled vehicles.
