Sooty exhaust?
We recently purchased our 2013 X5 3.5 gasoline with about 68k miles. It had a little bit of exhaust soot when we purchased it but I thought that may have been because the car was at the dealership for 5 months and not being driven enough. After a few weeks of my wife doing mostly highway driving, soot is back. Concerns or is this normal?

Yeah at full throttle is the only time when the other exhaust port opens up on the newer e70's, it's perfectly normal.

Thanks. Starting to worry it was leaking something into the cylinders.

My 2013 3.5 makes soot too. My mechanic tells me its typical for turbocharged engines.

I have a bottle in the garage. Plan on a good wash and wax before the long New England winter sets in.
