New Repairs and question

Just after replacing front brake pads I had a bunch of new non related fault symptoms.. sighh

I am thankful I bought Extended warranty! had the beast since 2013 and no problems until now.

at 61,000 miles..2011 e70 N55
1. Clunking sound from front suspension over anything uneven
2. Rattling sound from front end but just reaching 2000rpm and up to 2300 and then goes away, idle and driving, slight change with A/C off but not much.
3. Noticable thumping in between shifts, feel it in the frame, more like studdering or fuel delivery problem.
4. grand finale, eng overheat out of nowhere.. shut it down and waited 10min, started up and ran fine while I slowly drove to the dealer.

Shop report.

1. front strut bushings shot..
2. Suspossedly water pump (makes sense for the overheat) I thought it was the tensioner..
3. no finding!
4. Water pump

additional finding, oil leak from valve cover gasket and weak battery!

Warranty covering all but weak battery, dealer quote $450 to replace battery.

I have never had any symptoms of a weak battery, should I run and replace it?

You should pay $200 for an 92AH AGM battery, drop it in, and pay someone $50 to 'register' the new battery. Lots and lots and lots of posts on this. Every week it seems.

It may be in your best interest to invest in something like Carly or another OBD Dongle. I paid 30 dollars and then another 10 dollars to register the battery and now I have a tool to diagnose and code as I wish.

This!

Picked up a Bosch 92AH AGM on Sunday, put it in last night, got it coded this morning (shop didn't charge me cause he didn't want to take a CC, made me promise to come back to him - I always use them anyway).

My symptoms were very hard starts, almost didn't start at all one cold morning. I don't drive it very much, so it sits in the driveway sometimes for 2-3 days.

took them 2 weeks to address the issues and didnt even get the parts for the airbag recall but came back home with some of the same issues...

-Rattling issue still present (still suspect tensioner)
-Still studdering/hesitating between shifts

Invoice was $4,509 for the following.
-front Upper strut mounts replaced
-front lower thrust bushing replaced
-coolant pump replaced
-oil filter housing and oil cooler gaskets replaced (not as per previous finding they said valve cover gasket)
-engine mounts replaced
-electronic chassis and suspension tuned

taking it back in this week..

Just for the record and amazement,

On my way to the dealer the low oil level warning came on, bought a quart to top it up and found the hood wouldnt open, as if the cable was snapped, clearly something that happened during the previous visit..

took it back in and got a call 2 days later.
1. Steering pump noisy and leaking (never had any complaints)
2. Vacuum hose for Eletropnuematic press converter came apart.. what?

The best part is that I picked up the car and the rattling is still there!
Do they actually not start the car after repairs they do!?
Invoice $2,384

If this was out of pocket I would be furious but for the sake of curiosity and having a bunch of new parts I am willing to see where this goes, taking it back in today!

Lol looks like they are just giving it to BMW with all these warranty work, works out for you i guess like you said with new parts. Just make sure before the warranty is over that its all fixed and good to go. Hope you got a loaner from them.

3 times a loaner now, just when you thought you might not buy another bmw they give you something brand new and exciting to drive, first was a 428, then a 328 and now a 340.

Took their lead tech for a drive and he said I have a transfer case problem and what I expected the tensioner and pulley will be replaced this time, hope they got it right this time.
