Shredded Tire Sidewall - Need advice
Hey fellas!
My wife drove on a flat tire with our x5 and destroyed the sidewall and possibly the rim as the tire no longer takes air when pumped ![]() I found a pair of the exact rims (style 214) on Craigslist and picked them up today. They came with the factory Dunlop run flats. I will place the replacement tire on this rim as it's in mint condition. Also, I fear the original wheel with the shredded tire might be damaged. It would not take air when pumped with a compressor. So better to go with these new rims I picked up. To add anther layer of complexity, currently the e70 has Continental ExtremeContact DWS...which are no longer available for sale (DWS06 now). Question is: 1) Replace only the front passenger side tire with a used ExtremeContact DWS with similar tread depth. $115CAD balanced and installed on the new rim. OR 2) Replace both front wheels with the new rims I picked up and put on new matching Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 OR 3) Most expensive option, replace all tires. Which I would like to avoid as the current tires have a fair bit of life left. Also, I secondary question... what to do about the TMPS? Build sheet is saying Prod.date: 2010-10-18 Thank you all very much! |
