35d deletes performed by any shops in Texas?

Hi all,
I've got an 'incorrect DEF fluid' message as well as a cracked EGR (blowing soot all over the engine compartment. Now I'm down to 19 miles until this thing is a paper weight. I want to get a tune and parts from Mission Tuning and delete it all for a fraction of the cost to replace the EGR and DEF tanks.
I have the ability to fumble through the work but I don't have the equipment, specifically a lift and engine hoist to drop the lower subframe for the Down pipe.

I can't find a shop in Texas so far that is familiar with BMW diesels AND willing to delete anything. I found a place in Texarkana willing to do it but their expertise is in the big 3 trucks and they want almost $2k more than Bimmer Performance Center in Raleigh, NC. I'd take it to NC but it's a 23 hour drive towing my car and probably a 6 day trip to drive and complete the maintainance..thus costing me $5k in the end anyway.

Does anybody know of a place that will do this in Texas for a reasonable price? Or any other suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated. I don't know what I don't know.

Thanks in advance,
JT

Im sure the right people will chime in soon but if you did the work yourself or did find a mechanic to do it, you can then send the computer in the mail to a member on here to get coded and back to you before youre done with the physical work.

How many miles are on it? Is it throwing a check engine light? Dealer told me the EPA forced BMW to extend all diesel emissions related warranties to 10 years/120,000 miles.

Worth a call to BMW North America. If they grumble, tell them you're calling the EPA next and filing a complaint about BMW and diesel emissions. Hot topic lately!

I recently received a notice from BMW that my vehicle's "
Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Active Tank" and "Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Supply Module" waranties have been extended to 10 years/120,000 miles from the vehicle's original in-service date. In addition, they say that any previous repairs to these components previously paid for by a customer may be reimburseable. Contact the BMW Customer Reimbursement Center.

enter last 7 digits of your VIN here BMW Owner Reimbursement Program

What you see on the drop down is covered if you are under 120k miles. Just go to the dealer, they all know about the SCR issue and EGR cooler should also be covered under a different warranty.

This! Thank you for someone chiming in - with all the TDI Dieselgate crap that went on the EPA really forced BMW's hand - For all diesels with SCR (urea) injection the federal emissions warranty is 10y / 120k and let me tell you what BMW really doesn't want the EPA knocking on their door -

I won't do the deletes until the emissions warranty is up personally, as long as its not an out of pocket expense. If this is not the case, then delete away, the drive to Raleigh is worth it from what I've heard -

I had my active tank replaced a couple of weeks ago all at the cost of the dealer. Although I had just under 70k on the clock.

It has just over 100k on it and there were two issues. First the EGR is cracked and blowing black soot all over the engine compartment. Second, the "incorrect DEF fluid" message came on and has been counting down from 200 miles to a 'no start' condition. It's just over 200 miles to the nearest dealer. Almost everything that's broken you n this car has been EPA related, none of it is cheap. We drove it with hope the message would fix itself, seems that worked for lots of folks, no such luck. Now I'm removing it all myself with a little help from my friends. New parts should be here Monday and the flashed ECU should be back Wednesday. If I knew more about removing the DPF, I'd do a video to help some folks out, there is very little out there about an X5 diesel DPF R&R, it's frustrating.
Thanks for all the replies and wish me luck....

Wow.

Either of you two have a source for this so called blanket warranty extension???????

There is a huge difference between active tank & supply module and THE ENTIRE DIESEL EMISSIONS SYSTEM.

Love the EPA as a boogeyman...and the VW issues getting weaved into the story.

But let's deal with actual facts, yes?
