X5D - Aux Water Pump Code?

Went fishing for problems with Carly, and of course encountered one.

Junction Box Passenger / Beifahrer
Short circuit to positive or open circuit - additional water pump
Code: 00A6D1


From what I've read, this pump is primarily to recirculate coolant through the heater core for cabin regulation when engine is turned off. Assuming that is the case, should this be addressed?

Ideas on where to start? My initial guess would be the pump has failed, and likely needs replacement. But the circuit description leads me to wonder if it's simply a fuse/relay.
