New member and BT question

Hi everyone! I'm a new member and recently purchased a 2011 X5 3.5 premium (about 2 months ago) with about 40k on the odometer. It's an absolute blast to drive. I've had SUVs in the past and not one has performed like the X5.

So to the question... I purchased the car without bluetooth phone capability. My previous car had this and I thought it would not be missed, but I was mistaken. I've done a lot of reading on this and other forums regarding adding BT and I believe that only a BT module and coding will be needed but wanted to run it by some of you. My X5 has a combox (6VC), pro nav (609), steering wheel/center column telephone buttons, telematics access request (S8SC), and voice command (620).

I originally had a PPI done at the local BMW dealer and was told the car had BT, but my phone was too new - iPhone 6s? I do not think this was correct as the vin decoders I used never mentioned BT functionality and "telephone" was not listed on the center screen.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What do you see when you select CD/Multimedia. Is Bluetooth an option on the left?

Check the link below to see if there is an update available for your vin
BMW ConnectedDrive : Software update

My combox BT audio and BT phone work fine with an iPhone 7.

Thanks for the reply smassey. I do not see a Bluetooth option when I select CD/Multimedia.

There is a software update available, so I'll get this loaded and see what happens.
