^Yeah I saw the sets available for cheap from China as well. Unfortunately I couldn't bring myself to order it from them...

blue dragon will become famous soon enough
Better fix it on your diesel, or risk having to replace injectors and harness from water infiltration

I noticed that Both the OEM and the Chinese trim pieces leak some water into the engine compartment. with or without the gasket. I learned this because leaves that accumulate around the cabin intake end up turning into liquid slush that leaves a trail everywhere it runs.

Now im wondering if it would be good preventative maintenance to seal with silicone the trim pieces to the body.

better 2 bucks worth of silicone than the enormous hedache of a harness or injector going bad $$$$$$$

I shall look into this.

I did the ones from China and they worked fine with a little modification. I added a piece of foam rubber weatherstripping that was adhesive on one side on all the pieces where they joined together and to the body. Everything has worked just fine. No leaks and no problems.

As a stop-gap solution (no pun intended) I slathered clear silicone all over the interfaces between my already broken plastic trims.

I raised the hood the other day after a few days of particularly hard rain and did not see any sign of water on the back of the engine cover. Hopefully this continues to work until I can get new parts in.

^I'll consider this when my new OE trims arrive. I opted for picking them up from FCP since I was ordering a large quantity of other parts and utilized their price matching form to get the ECS Tuning prices. The process was a bit clunky and cost me 2 days before finally getting to place my order... but it did save $47+ on the trims and since I had everything in my cart for so long they sent me a 5% off coupon code to check out within the next 24 hours. Ended up saving $90+ on the total order... so I'm a happy camper. I'll take $574 vs. $665 any day.

Another easy and cheap fix is 2" butyl rubber tape. Get a third hand to hold the broken pieces together, form the tape in a V, peel the paper backing off and apply all along the edge.

I did this many months ago and it looks as good as day 1 with no leaks. It cost me $12 for a roll on Amazon and there's enough left that I could send it to Flex Tape Phil on TV to use to patch a few more swimming pools, pipes and boats.

Nah, They'll work just fine....just need some slight mods. You may have to drill a hole in the end of each one and will definitely have to transfer the hard formed foam from the old ones and add the foamrubber gasket where they all come together. You'll be good to go then.
