New to me '12 x35d:a couple easy questions

What a difference from my 2004....both good and bad.
First is an easy one. I drove it last night and can barely see out of the front windows. There should be no tinting on the front leaving the factory right?

Second: I want to take idrive back to reset. Get rid of the other phones and numbers and terrible music stored on the hard drive. Is there a way to do that? I do not see Profile anywhere on my version.

Thanks for your help.
Steve

Sorry, but, that is an incorrect statement. Tinting the front windows (in some cases even the windshield) is not illegal in the entire USA. It depends on the state and their laws. Most states allow front door windows to be tinted to a certain level and some even as dark as you please. While others like CA don't allow any dint on the front door windows.

Most all states including CA allow a sunshade strip along the top of the windshield and most can be as dark as you like. While some actually allow the entire windshield to be tinted above and beyond the factory tinted glass.

Should be in the owners manual...if not...try:

  1. Press MENU button on iDrive dial and select CD/Multimedia -> (press OK)
  2. Press OPTION button on iDrive dial and then select MUSIC COLLECTION -> DELETE MUSIC COLLECTION
As far as deleting old "paired" phones...what happens if you press & hold the "talk face" button on the steering wheel for approx 10 seconds? Do you get a prompt on the screen to DELETE all phones?

If the above doesn't work...if you have VC (voice command)...press the "talk face" button and say "HELP" or "MY CONTACTS".
  1. If selections appear on the display...look for something to do with your contacts and select.
  2. PRESS the iDrive's OPTION button (like in deleting music collection above)
  3. Look for "DELETE CONTACT" or "DELETE ALL CONTACTS"

If you have a booklet or owners manual for the phone...then look to see if it has a list of Voice Commands that the system recognizes. This can be helpful in navigating the many features of your vehicle. Voice commands may be able to help walk you through things instead of pressing buttons etc.

Since I don't have an e70...hopefully the forum members that do...will chime in and correct anything I've incorrectly suggested.

Only TWO states allow tinting of the entire windshield. Ohio and North Dakota.

So I was incorrect- 48 states don't permit it.

For the OP, in his state of WA, it is illegal. In his 'entire state'.

The issue of a sunshade isn't germane here- some states allow it, some have a dimensional space, some use the AS1 line on the glass....

BUT, op was asking about the windshield- not a sunshade.
