I’ve replaced with exactly the same unit, with same hardware and software version, not just part number. |

Once you paired just change name of device and will be any number you want! I put my car's plate number!

Could you solve the problem? It was the TCU? I have exactly the same problem and I am trying to figure out how to proceed.

Sorry just saw this, I've not replaced the tcu yet. I've another issue on my video module and currently bypassing it. With the current pricing, I might bit the bullet and do 10.25 android upgrade from avin instead. which would solve these issues. But we'll see.

Just to update,
I just got my Bluetooth back. I think somehow my problem with Bluetooth may actually started from the video module. Which I didn't found about it earlier. It started after a while when I assumed the Bluetooth has gone. Then I've lost sound coming out of the speaker. I thought the CCC is going. I've been thinking of upgrading to CIC, but also have been lurking on other forum regarding the AVIN android unit. And when no sound coming out from the speaker, I thought, oh dear, I guess now the only way is to upgrade to CIC. But before spending $$$$ to upgrade, I decided to try to do an ista diagnosis first. Both to see whether I can confirm my thought and whether I need other things non related that may also needed to be replaced at the same time. So there comes time on the ista diagnostic. Interestingly, the result does not yield my assumption that the ccc is gone. Instead I got error on fibre loop not being closed as it supposed to be. And it started from video module. At this point, I decided to buy some loops to bypass any module in the loop, should there be any other module that is damaged or not working. Then loops arrived few days back. I've got them to bypass the video module with some modification on the bypass loop as the socket is not exactly fit to the fibre harness from the car. Later I got my sound back . So happy for a while. Then today, I got thinking to try the Bluetooth back. I don't know how I got there. But thought, I've been wrong on my assumption of the CCC gone, so just wanted to confirm whether the Bluetooth is still dead. And voila, it turned back on. My phone can be paired again. And I can make calls through the Bluetooth. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that, the Bluetooth problem you have may not be exactly that. It maybe something else on the fibre loop that is going on its way out. But affecting your Bluetooth first. I have not replaced my video module yet nor do another ista diagnostic again. I'll update later when I've done those. Happy troubleshooting guys. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk |

My new-to-me '08 E70 4.8i was not pairing up with my family's iphones. I'd get to the pairing prompt on the screen, but the BMW would not show up on the iphone's list (Settings -> Bluetooth -> Other devices).
Based on the advice here, I ordered a second-hand TCU from ebay for $45. The Hardware revisions were the same as my original unit but the software was different. Installed it last week (about 30 minutes from start to finish), and...it fixed my issues. All of our phones pair up nicely, the handsfree works well including the steering wheel controls. Very happy and grateful to the community here. A few notes from when I changed the TCU, which is located behind a panel on the left rear of the trunk. 1) I had to remove not just the pull-out panel but also the one in front of it that covers the left side trunk-to-back-seat area. I removed three of the panel connectors and pulled the panel away enough to get access to the TCU. 2) I was not familiar with how to remove the fiber optic connectors. Figured out you have to push a release tab and then pull and twist the connector. 3) The TCU is held on by four nuts, one on each corner. 4) I did not have to remove the amplifier to get access to the TCU |
