Need new rear springs. Is there a way to go stiffer?

My boat has ruined my rear springs. They now sag just with the bikes on the rack. I don't have the self leveling suspension/3rd row but I do have adaptive drive. My original plan was to add SLS but the parts cost gets close to $1500 without the needed wiring.

My backup plan is to just replace the springs. Ideally I would get adaptive drive springs that are for a 3rd row without SLS. I know all 3rd row US got SLS but perhaps non us had 3rd row without SLS.

Looking up the parts does not show very good descriptions. It is hard to tell if the 2nd option is for SLS or not.

Any advice is appreciated. thanks

There is a specific body configuration for the Self-Level system that is specific to the 3rd row on these things. I have become intimately familiar with the self-leveling suspension with adapive drive on this X5 as it seems to need something every month. The Airbags actually twist in and snap into place. I don't know if you could go aftermarket or in even a system like that is available. I do not think an OEM option for a non-3rd row X5 is possible.

I think 33536773056 is the part number you need. If that 2nd option was for SLS, it would have clearly stated as such, as it does later down the page. Also, from what I understand, all '09 35d's came with the sport suspension since the part number (33536773055) for non-sport suspension show as "N/A".

The only other part number, 33536773057, is clearly for the 3rd row option.

I'd figure out the spring rates for what you have, then get something a bit stiffer... Actual numbers on the spring rates, not BMW part numbers.

Yes, it is likely not easy to find- BMW doesn't publish it. I would guess some of the larger companies that make BMW springs, specifically X5 springs, might have tested a few to know where the baseline is.... Maybe reach out to them?

Finally get a chance to find more info. There are no tags but there is a yellow and green stripe color code on the springs.

I just posted a thread about towing and using helper springs. The kit is only $100 and I think it would help with your problem. I was thinking of trying this myself.
