Is there something crazy involved in changing the O2 sensors on the e70 3.0 X5?

Each sensor is about $300 on the quote. So $1,500 is for all 4.

God. Bosch OEM sensors are $95 amazon prime, shipped to you in two days.
https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-16413-O...008%3Abmw%3Ax5 Ive done O2 sensors driving a car up onto a curb and wiggling under.... Time for a new shop. Heck, even amazon has a "$199 installed" price. 800 for all 4, and there is NO WAY that installer would charge the same for the other 3 once he is there. DO NOT just change these unless they are diagnoses bad OR they are over 75k on them. |

Cut out those useless catalysts... put in pipe with new sensor for maximum 100$! Done! Great sound in cabin!

Did you Google the parts for the lowest price? Often parts are available from China at dramatic savings. Example; http://www.carparts.com/details/BMW/...B&gclsrc=aw.ds $30 each!
Did you pull and reseat the corresponding fuses? Whenever there is a problem with either of my BMW's I always try that and sometimes it clears the problem. Its worth a try. If you do sell, don't trade in, you'll get much less. Sell it on CraigsList or Ebay. I finally sold my 01' X5 4.4 with 235K on it and got a 13' X5 with a 3.5 with 35K on it. The technology improvements alone were worth it. I also purchased an aftermarket warranty for 5 years and 150K for around $3K. Good luck either way.

I would highly suggest looking into an aftermarket warranty for the 3.5 especially it is over 60k miles ... their overall cost of maintenance is pretty high compared to the N52. |
