question about suspension packages

Hi guys, so I'm looking at an x5 this week and ran the VIN through an online decoder and it came back with these packages:

S220A self leveling suspension
S225A standard suspension

Can someone explain to me please what these packages are? The truck is a sport model. For some reason I thought the truck could have one or the other of the two packages above?

Thanks

Help us help you better...give the last 7 digits of the VIN so that we can see the complete list which will paint the whole picture. For instance, there are some slight differences in package features depending on model & model year...we're working in the dark with the few details you've given.

Looks like standard suspension (non adaptive drive) plus 3rd row seat.

There are two choices (in the USA) for suspension:

Standard
Adaptive Drive

with either of those you can ALSO get the 'self leveling airbags on the rear'

You will also note some crazy confusion around 'sport' suspension and 'sport suspension delete' in the BMW codes. To my knowledge, ALL e70s in the USA got the sport delete. (My knowledge gets murky around 2012-2013)

Oh, it isnt a 'truck'

I only see 220A self leveling on 3rd row seat cars. Anyone have 220A without 3rd row?

It is possible.

If you order a 3rd row it will ALWAYS have 220a

However I believe you could order 220A alone.

Given that 90% of cars are specified by dealers - and I cannot imagine ANY dealer ordering 220A alone- the odds of finding that is pretty low.

IMO

Would be cool to know what options are and were available 'off menu' to people in the know. Like this 220A, great for people who tow but dont want 3rd row.

Sure. Simply look at the ordering guide.

Every year the current ordering guides get posted... so go back in time in these forums to xx/20xx and look for the guides.

Self leveling is included with 3rd row.

3rd row is a popular 'dealer ordered' option- many buyers REQUIRED the 3rd row, so dealers would put this on their lots.

self leveling as a stand alone option was NEVER ordered by a dealer to sit on a lot. It would only be an end user that wants to tow (or haul) who would order that.

A rare stand alone option.
