Depending on where you got the tires put on, I frankly would be very surprised if they noticed. Shop I used to go to just swapped things as fast as possible, no extra inspection/looking around.

I agree. They went quickly as tire swapping season in Quebec is crazy. It's the law to have snow tires on by December 15th here. This shop also did new front brakes for me in September but the "overfilled basketball bouncing" sound only began a week or two ago.

Okay so the part# is 31 33 6778 114. That's from my dealership parts guy, looking at my truck's file. He wants $387.50 CDN PLUS 15% TAX (caps intended) PER SPRING. omg
I've searched online and the parts trends at the high 100s in USD, so about $250cdn before tax. Are there aftermarket parts manufacturers that don't charge as much?

Your indy should have some recommendations. Springs are expensive, especially OEM ones. That and the fact that you have more mileage than typical 2011's is why I did a quick look on eBay. Most of the cars like yours in wrecking yards are going to have less mileage, and springs rarely break so basically you'd get springs and struts with less miles for less than new springs. Plus the labor will be less to swap the whole assembly rather than just the springs.

So sad to think that cars like mine are already done for! Such an amazing amazing truck to drive...
Thanks for your input... I've learned so much in the last couple of days. This will help me a ton come Wednesday morning when I go to my Indy! Quote:

Here in Los Angeles it's mostly X5's that have been totalled. Doesn't take much these days as the Blue Book value on our cars is very low.
There's also a flood (pun intended) of them in the South East from all the flooding. Those brought down the price of any parts that can be reasonably shipped. |
